Fire safety signage: white pictogram on red, to ISO 7010. Red marks firefighting equipment, not prohibition, not hazard, but where the means to act is kept.
What must be marked
Extinguishers, with the sign above and visible from standing height
Hydrants and hose reels
Alarm call points
Dry riser and fire brigade inlets
Main shut-offs for power, gas and water
Directional arrows where the equipment is out of sight
Why the sign goes high
An extinguisher at floor level disappears behind a stack of boxes or a queue of people. Mounted above it, projecting from the wall where possible, the sign keeps the equipment findable from anywhere in the room: which is what someone with thirty seconds actually needs.
Photoluminescent
A fire cuts the power and fills the space with smoke. The photoluminescent version charges from normal lighting and stays legible in the dark, worth having on firefighting equipment, not only on escape routes.
Choosing the material
PVC for everyday use. Acrylic in receptions and customer-facing areas. Self-adhesive vinyl for glass and fire doors, which cannot be drilled without voiding certification.
